What we stock (at a glance)
- Squeegee channels: 35 cm and 45 cm.
- Squeegee handles: standard fit for our channels.
- Squeegee rubber: 71 cm strips (cut to 35/45 cm).
- Washers/applicators: 35 cm and 45 cm lambswool sleeves (for wetting).
- Buckets & poles: sized for 35 cm tools; 2 m–9 m telescopic poles for reach.
Pick the right channel size (fast)
| Pane width | Recommended channel | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| < 45 cm | 35 cm | Most residential frames; easy corner control. |
| 45–70 cm | 45 cm | Storefront/wide panes; fewer pulls, faster. |
| > 70 cm | Two passes with 45 cm | Work top-down with overlap to avoid lines. |
Tip: carry both 35 cm and 45 cm. Swap based on pane size to minimise passes.
Setups that work
Speed (route/storefront)
- 45 cm channel + matching washer.
- Use steady, low-angle pulls with slight overlap; detail edges with a microfiber.
Detail (residential)
- 35 cm channel + matching washer.
- Better control around frames, muntins, and tight corners.
Mixed (most jobs)
- Carry both 35 cm and 45 cm channels.
- Switch based on pane width; keep pre-cut 35/45 cm rubbers ready.
Rubber care & replacement
- Cut once, work twice: from a 71 cm strip, cut two 35 cm refills (or one 45 cm plus an off-cut).
- Flip midday: turn the rubber around at lunch to use the fresh edge.
- Replace on first signs: lines, chatter, nicks, or rounded corners.
- Storage: keep rubbers flat, out of heat/sun; avoid solvents that dry the edge.
Troubleshooting (no streaks, no drama)
- Fine lines across the pane: edge is nicked or dirty → wipe the edge, then replace the rubber if needed.
- Water left on edges: channel too long for the pane or angle too steep → drop to 35 cm or reduce angle/pressure.
- Chatter (skipping): dry glass, too much pressure, or tired rubber → re-wet, lighten pressure, replace rubber.
- Streaks after pulls: sleeve shedding or contaminated water → rinse sleeve; change water; keep microfibers clean.
- Corner leaks: finish with a short “J-stroke” and wipe the top frame before the first pull.
How to cut & fit a squeegee rubber (5 steps)
- Measure the channel (35 cm or 45 cm).
- Cut the 71 cm strip square with a sharp blade (don’t pinch the edge).
- Slide the rubber into the channel grooves; seat it flush at both ends.
- Lock with end-clips/screws (if present) so the rubber can’t drift.
- Test on a wet pane; adjust pressure for a clean, single pass.
FAQs
Which size should I buy first?
Start with 35 cm for control, add 45 cm for wide panes and faster storefront work.
How often do I replace the rubber?
Swap as soon as you see lines/chatter. Many pros flip midday and replace every few jobs.
Do I need multiple handles?
One handle is fine—just carry both 35 cm and 45 cm channels and pre-cut rubbers.
